The idea behind Bento was to ask ourselves ‘how much stuff do we really need’ ?

I always thought that by providing the consumer this abundance of storage shelves, drawers, containers, etc. that we only encourage excess behavior. Especially in North America where bigger is better and the more we have the more stature we think we have. So by only providing one drawer I was hoping to make the user stop and assess the difference between want and need.
